Disable 2FA or switch devices
Got a new phone, or want to disable two-factor authentication for another reason? You can do this via your account settings. You'll need a valid verification code or recovery code — this prevents someone else from disabling 2FA if they only know your password.
Disabling 2FA
- Open Account settings in Ziber Team and go to the Security tab.
- Click Disable 2FA.
- Enter a valid 6-digit code from your authenticator app, or use one of your recovery codes.
- Confirm. Two-factor authentication is now disabled.
You'll receive an email confirmation that 2FA has been disabled on your account.
Switching to a new phone
The safest way to switch phones:
- Disable 2FA on your account using the steps above. Do this while you still have access to your old phone.
- Install an authenticator app on your new phone.
- Enable 2FA again via the Security tab. You'll get a new QR code to scan with your new phone. If needed, read the full guide in Enable two-factor authentication.
- Save your new recovery codes. When setting up again, you receive a new set of codes. Store them in a safe place again — read our tips in Storing recovery codes safely.
Why is a code needed to disable 2FA?
This is a deliberate security measure. If someone gains access to your password — for example through a data breach — they can't simply disable your two-factor authentication. Without a valid code from your authenticator app or a recovery code, it won't work. This keeps your account protected, even if your password has been leaked.
Already lost your old phone?
If you no longer have access to your old phone, you can still log in with a recovery code and disable 2FA from there. Out of recovery codes too? Then contact Ziber support.
