Regenerating recovery codes

If you've already used a few recovery codes to log in, it's wise to generate a new set before you run out. You can do this at any time via your account settings.

Step-by-step: generating new codes

1. Open Account settings in Ziber Team and go to the Security tab.
2. Click Regenerate recovery codes.
3. A new set of codes appears. Save them right away — they're shown only once.
4. Store them in a safe place. Use your password manager, print them out, or save them as an encrypted file. Read our tips in Storing recovery codes safely.

Note: old codes stop working

As soon as you generate a new set, all previous recovery codes become invalid — including codes you hadn't used yet. So make sure you store the new set properly right away and delete the old ones to avoid confusion.

When to generate new codes?

• You've used several codes and the number of remaining codes is getting low.
• You suspect someone else has seen your codes.
• You've lost your codes but still have access to your authenticator app.

Good to know

• Your original codes were created when you set up 2FA. Regenerating replaces them completely.
