Which authenticator app can I use?
To use two-factor authentication with Ziber Team, you need an authenticator app on your phone. Such an app generates a new 6-digit code every 30 seconds. You enter that code when logging in, alongside your password.
Any app that supports TOTP (time-based one-time passwords) works with Ziber Team. Below are the most commonly used options.
Recommended apps
Google Authenticator
- Available on: Android and iOS
- Price: Free
- Good to know: Simple and clear. Supports cloud backup, so you can transfer your accounts to a new phone.
Microsoft Authenticator
- Available on: Android and iOS
- Price: Free
- Good to know: A strong choice, especially if your school already works with Microsoft 365. Supports cloud backup and can also be used for passwordless login to Microsoft services.
Authy (by Twilio)
- Available on: Android and iOS
- Price: Free
- Good to know: Supports encrypted cloud backup across multiple devices. Handy if you use 2FA on many different services — Authy keeps everything neatly together.
1Password
- Available on: Android, iOS, Windows, Mac
- Price: Paid (subscription)
- Good to know: If you already use 1Password as your password manager, the app can also store your 2FA codes. That way you have passwords and verification codes in one secure place.
Which should I choose?
Not sure? Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator are the easiest to start with — free, reliable, and set up within a minute.
Does your school or organization already work with Microsoft 365? Then Microsoft Authenticator is the most obvious choice.
Want backup across multiple devices, or already use a password manager? Then Authy or 1Password are excellent choices.
Why not SMS codes?
Ziber Team uses authenticator apps instead of SMS codes. Authenticator apps are more secure because they work entirely on your own device — they can't be intercepted, as SMS messages sometimes can.
