Create your Stripe account for Ziber Pay
Ziber Pay uses Stripe to process payments, so you need a Stripe account. You only do this once. You create the account inside Ziber Team, in one guided flow. You no longer have to go to the Stripe website.
Before you start
- Make sure you have the finance role. Only users with the finance role can accept the terms and create the Stripe account. By default, the owner of the Ziber subscription has this role. If you don't have it, the screen shows which users do, and you can have the role assigned.
- Is your school or childcare centre part of a foundation (stichting)? Then the board member (bestuurder) must approve the Stripe account. They can create it themselves, or authorise you to do it. Read how this works in Authorization for account creation.
- Have your details ready. Stripe is required by law to verify who receives the money. Keep these at hand:
- the KvK details of your legal entity (for a school under a stichting: those of the stichting);
- the IBAN of the bank account that payouts go to;
- an ID of your legal representative;
- registration details of your legal entity, such as the trade register number;
- details of all board members: name, email, job title, date of birth, home address and phone number.
Missing the board members' details? The authorisation form in the article above helps you collect them in advance.
Create your Stripe account step by step
- Start the Ziber Pay setup. On your dashboard, click the tile for setting up Ziber Pay, or choose Ziber Pay in the settings menu. Did you get here from a payment request or payment link? Then you see a short note explaining why you need to set up Ziber Pay first.
- Read the introduction and click Get started. You see what Ziber Pay does, what the Service costs are, what Stripe may ask for, and that payouts happen automatically every Monday.
- Accept the terms. Enter the confirmation email address, where you receive confirmations of orders and payments. The sender email address is optional. Tick the box to agree to the conditions and privacy policy, then click Accept and continue. Ziber then creates your Stripe account.
- Enter your details at Stripe. Under the heading You are now entering your details at Stripe, Stripe's form appears. It stays inside Ziber Team, so no new tab opens. What you enter goes directly to Stripe. Ziber does not store it.
- Complete the form. Answer Stripe's questions and submit the form. You can stop at any point and pick up later where you left off.
- Wait for Stripe to check your details. You now see Stripe is checking your details. This usually takes a few minutes, sometimes up to a few business days. You don't need to do anything. To see whether it's done, click Check again.
- Done. When Stripe has approved everything, you see Ziber Pay is ready. Your Stripe account is Activated. Click Get started to create your first payment request, or go back to where you came from.
What changes after activation?
The Stripe page in Ziber Team now shows your balance, payouts and payments. You also manage your account details there, without going to Stripe. The setup tile disappears from your dashboard.
Payouts are automatic, every Monday. You can't change this schedule, and you can't request a separate payout.
Good to know
- Does Stripe need more information later? A notice at the top of the page tells you what is needed. If your account is Restricted, payments can only continue once you have provided that information.
- Changing your bank account? Do this on the Account tab. Stripe asks for an extra confirmation, usually with an SMS code.
- Why so many questions? Stripe is supervised by De Nederlandsche Bank. Read more in Create FAQs Stripe account.
- Parent council? Read Activate Stripe as a parent council first, so you enter the right details.
- Not sure what Stripe is? Read What is Stripe?.
